True 2 Be You Thursdays

This space would be a trauma- informed online connection space for LGBTQ youth. The trauma- informed practices we will integrate include the following:

• Providing predictable and safe structure, and sharing agendas with participants at the beginning of meetings with the opportunity for it to be shaped by their feedback
• Clear participant generated community agreements, upheld by facilitator and youth with a clearly outlined process of accountability if agreements are not followed
• Every student having opportunity to share, be heard, and affirmed by facilitator
• Positive feedback provided by facilitators and peers for self expression
• Utilizing methods that accommodate for different learning styles digitally
• Opportunities for youth to advance in group leadership
• Option to navigate to our in-house mental health clinicians for deeper culturally mindful telehealth support for local DC individual youth/families

The above list is not exhaustive. Additionally, we'll be utilizing positive youth development methodology to create a space incorporating mindfulness practices, yoga, visual art, creative writing and discussions- all with easy to follow accessible prompts that can be done from home without special equipment.
