Trauma Informed Care Training

Last Date:

Location:
Grace Meridian Hill Church 810 Shepherd St NW Washington, DC 20011
Details:

Trauma Informed Care, will cover how past traumatic events affect behavior, how to best care for kids from hard places, and things to keep in mind when building relationships with children and parents who may have experienced trauma.

As volunteers, parents, teachers, caseworkers, and advocates we want to make sure we’re providing the best care possible. But to do so, we need to keep a family’s potential traumatic history in mind. DC127 is delighted to bring in Simone Jacobs an expert with a background in complex trauma. Ms. Jacobs currently holds an LCSW- C was recently employed at The Center: Post Traumatic Disorders Program in Washington DC. She currently maintains a Private Practice in Takoma Park, MD, and provides therapy to families through The Tree House Child Assessment Center of Montgomery County.

This is a great opportunity for anyone that interacts with families who may have a traumatic background. This training will mix theory with practical application. Attendees will hear research and theories about the cause and effects of trauma as well as real stories and tips from experts caring for families with traumatic backgrounds.

All foster families and Communities for Families volunteers can attend this training for free, however, we want to expand this throughout the city.
