Learn24: Five Conversations

There are times in our work with young people when we find ourselves in conversation that we know in our heart is of particular importance. It could be about a crucial decision they are making, a problem they are trying to solve, or even about a sensitive part of their story. In our research and work with young people, we have uncovered five types of these conversations. As a youth worker, you can’t always formally facilitate these conversations, though you can try. Sometimes, you need to pay attention to when they are happening and respond in the moment. Each conversation requires a special approach that can allow you have the most connected, supported, and impactful interaction. This workshop will introduce these five conversations and the skills and techniques you can use to navigate them successfully.
