Strategies for STEM Programming

You have heard the old adage that “to fail to plan is to plan to fail”. Maybe you’ve also heard that effective STEM programs incorporate children’s ideas and adapt activities to meet children’s needs. How do you reconcile these two seemingly contradictory ideas? Learn some effective strategies for providing a positive, flexible experience.

In this workshop, participants will:

• Discuss the importance of including youth voice in planning STEM activities
• Explore strategies for advance planning and in-the-moment responsiveness to youth ideas
• Add to and use a list of flexible materials for STEM activities
